Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Bupples, an expense-splitting and hangout coordination app operated by Yousof Selim ("we", "us"), an individual developer based in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. By using Bupples, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

Bupples helps friends create hangouts, create one-off expenses, record shared expenses, scan or enter receipts, calculate balances, keep a shared history, and use Record payment after people settle up outside the app.

Important: Bupples is an informational record-keeping tool only. It does not process, hold, or transfer money, and it is not a payment service, bank, e-wallet, money transmitter, or financial institution. Any actual payment happens directly between you and another person outside Bupples.

2. One-off expense invitations and access

When you create a one-off expense for registered friends, Bupples sends each friend a recipient-bound invitation with a limited preview. The intended recipient can accept or decline. Accepting gives that person access to the full expense and its relevant payment or proof features. Declining does not add them to the expense and may require the creator to revise or resend the split.

Invitation links and QR codes are for the addressed recipient only. You are responsible for selecting the intended people, checking the proposed shares before sending, and not sharing another person’s private invitation.

3. Pip, receipt scanning, and automated help

Bupples may use automated systems, including receipt extraction and Pip assistant features, to read receipt images, suggest item totals, explain balances, or help you navigate the app. These outputs can be wrong or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing receipts, quantities, taxes, service charges, tips, splits, payment records, and balances before relying on them.

4. Pip Pro subscription

Bupples is free to use for core splitting, hangouts, recording payments, and settling up. Pip Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks extra customisation, cosmetic features, higher limits, and convenience tools shown in the app.

Pip Pro is billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play at the price and billing period shown at purchase. It renews automatically unless you cancel through the subscription settings for the store account used to buy it. Cancelling normally stops the next renewal while Pro remains active until the end of the paid period, subject to the store’s terms and applicable law. Prices may vary by country and may change with notice. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We do not receive your card, bank, or wallet details.

5. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use Bupples.

6. Accounts and accuracy

You may use Bupples as a guest or sign in with Apple, Google, or email to back up data and use your account across devices. You are responsible for activity under your account and for the accuracy of names, amounts, receipts, transfer details, payment records, and other information you enter.

Transfer details saved in Bupples are for sharing payment instructions only. Bupples does not verify those details and does not confirm that any external payment has happened.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Bupples for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, harassing, hateful, infringing, deceptive, or harmful purposes. You may not impersonate others, attack or scrape the service, misuse another person’s information, upload objectionable content, or enter payment details that you are not authorised to share.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. You can report content where reporting is available in the app, and session hosts may remove or ban members from their hangouts. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of content you create or upload, including profile information, profile pictures, hangout names, friend names, expense descriptions, receipt images, notes, photos, transfer details, and settlement records. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, display, and share that content with the relevant people in Bupples so the app can work.

You are responsible for having permission to upload or share content, including photos of other people, receipts, and payment or transfer details.

9. No financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice

Balances, settlement suggestions, split calculations, receipt extraction, and Pip assistant messages are automated convenience features. They are not financial, tax, accounting, legal, or payment advice. Verify all amounts and payment instructions before paying anyone or marking anything as settled. We are not responsible for disputes between users over expenses, debts, payments, or shared content.

10. Availability and changes

Bupples is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may add, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, including free features, Pro features, limits, integrations, and automated tools.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bupples is provided without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that calculations, scans, assistant messages, notifications, or sync will always be accurate, available, or error-free. Our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

12. Termination and deletion

You may stop using Bupples and delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account is permanent. Some shared records may remain visible to other members where needed to preserve group expense history, but your account identity may be removed or shown as a deleted user.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the service in a way that may harm other people, the app, or our infrastructure.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and you agree to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

14. Apple App Store

If you downloaded Bupples from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple’s standard licensed application end user licence agreement also applies.
